Math 261: Chapter 3 (Linear Equations and Inequalities in Two Variables)
Section 3.1
Here's a tutorial showing how to use the MyMathLab graphing tool.
This video shows how to use a table of values to graph a linear equation.
Section 3.2
Here's a video that shows you how to graph a line using the x- and y- intercepts!
Section 3.3
This video shows how to graph a line if you know a point on the line and the slope of the line. This is the homework problem in which you have to graph several lines with different slopes on the same grid.
Section 3.4
Here's the problem in which you have to find the equation of a line through the origin and another point with equal x- and y- coordinates! At the very end I show how to get the equation with "point-slope" form - this is actually from 3.5. I also show how to get the equation with "slope-intercept" form from 3.4.
Section 3.5
Find the equation of a line given a point on the line and the equation of a parallel line.
Find the equation of a line parallel to a vertical line
Find the equation of a line given a point on the line and the equation of a perpendicular line.
In this video, I show you how to get the equation of a line when you are given a point on the line and the same y-intercept as another line.
Section 3.6
Here's a linear inequality example that includes a demonstration of the MyMathLab graphing tool at the end of the problem.
This video shows how to graph a linear inequality.
This video shows how to graph a linear inequality when the boundary line passes through the origin.
